Vacuum Breaker Repair Kit

The Legend Valve 108-903 T-550 VACUUM BREAKER REPAIR KIT by Legend Valve includes replacement vacuum breaker parts for Legend brand, T-550 and Improved Flow T-550A anti-siphon frost free sillcocks (such as spigots, faucets, hose bibs, and hose valves). These repair parts are used on 4", 6", 8", 10", 12", and 14" T550 And T550A. The main function of this kit is to prevent water from siphoning back into the potable water supply, also known as backflow.

This kit includes 1 stainless steel cap, 1 body (the larger plastic piece with rubber o-ring), and 1 piston (the smaller plastic piece). The body measurements are as follows: The top (wider) diameter is 1.25" (1 1/4"), the bottom (narrower) diameter is .875" (7/8"). The threads are unique to the Legend brand and will not fit other sillcock brands.

To identify your sillcock brand, size, and model number, look for markings on the top of the wheel handle. The Legend logo, size, and model number should be visible.

To determine if your outdoor faucet is frost-free, check the orientation of the knob. If the knob is perpendicular to the house, it is likely frost-free. The knob operates a long stem that closes a valve inside the warm house. If the knob is at a 45-degree angle, it is not frost-free. Note: If your existing vacuum breaker has a black cover, this replacement part will not be compatible.

When assembling the repair kit, ensure that the flat end of the piston goes up inside the smaller diameter end of the body. The prongs or teeth of the piston should face outwards or downwards. As you insert the body back into the sillcock valve, make sure the prongs/teeth of the piston are facing downwards towards the valve. Check the alignment before tightening. Secure the assembly in place with the stainless steel cap and tighten using a wrench to prevent leaks.
